Earl L. Porter, Jr. Louts Porter, Jr., 74, of Saint Marie, MT and formerly of Malta, ray Thursday evening, Oct. 7, 1999 in Billings, MT, from compli- a by-pass surgery. Funeral services and Interment will be urday, Oct. 16, 1999 at Elim Lutheran Church in Malta. was born in Glasgow, MT on Dec. 30, 1924 to Ernest Earl and He married Rosalie St. John July 17, 1945. He was a veteran of in the Naval Armed Guard. He farmed in the Harb country, south of until 1967. He then moved to Billings where he attended Billings and operated a livestock supply business in Billings and until 1975. Fladland, Justin Anderson and Isabelle Marie Erick A. Olson A. Olson died Oct. 4, 1999 in Glasgow, of natural causes. Fu- were held Friday, Oct. 8, 1999 at Hinsdale Legion Hall in MT, with burial in Hillview Cemetery in Hinsdale, with Rev. Chris Bell Mortuary was in charge of arrangements. Olson was born Dec. 3, 1907 in Boyd, Minnesota to John and (Erickson) Olson. He was a rancher-farmer who spent most of his of Hinsdale. His fami!y moved to Montana in June of school in Hinsdale, and worked on the Fort Peck Dam as man. In November of 1954 he fiaarried Grace Callahan Harbeck. in 1969. He had spent the last three years of his life in Our Place I Home in Glasgow, MT. 3  -, include sister, Ltiise Heikilla of Boulder City, NV; neph- Simonson of Hinsdale, MT and Allen Andersen of Olympia, Jean Williamson and Grace Kline of Seattle, WA and Helen of Hawaii; cousin Herbert Olson of Clayton, NM; step-children I-larbeck of Bethany, OK, Bernice Ristow of Wauwatosa, WI and of Havre, MT. A few of our north country folks, namely George and Berta Anderson and Carol and Dean Kienenberger, attended Malta's Country Folks Holiday on Saturday. Berta also went to the basketball game in Malta Saturday evening. Polly Soiberg attended Marianne Askvold's 90th birthday celebration in Malta at the Senior Citizen Center. She also attended a baby shower for Joanie M. Sjostrom, daughter of Mike and Deb Sjostrom in Malta on Sunday. Merrimae Solberg attended grandson Dane's football game in Great Falls this last weekend. Marge and Jake Jacobs, former residents here, visited with Frank and Loretta Bebee and other friends. Esther Martin of Missoula is visiting Malta friends and also her mother, Arlene Ruiz, for a few days. John and Ann Ambuel and baby visited her folks, Donna and Ole Strommen this week. Mr. and Mrs. Walter Schenck of Graham, WA. spent 12 days visit- ing their daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Lonnie Link, and others here recently. Bessie Mae Waters and daugh- ter Beverly Wilson, of Big Fork, re- turned after a lengthy tour of the midwest states. They visited the Scott Wilson family in Kansas and Dr. and Mrs. Michael Wilson and family in Oklahoma. In Arkansas, they were met by Bessie Mac's daughter, Wilma Cleaver and granddaughter, Jill Harris, both of Texas. Places of interest were visited in Arkansas, Missouri, and Nebraska, including attending a show in Branson, MO. In the Friday, Oct. 8, 1999 is- sue of the Billings Gazette is an ar- ticle about Jazz singer, Kristin Korb, who will return to Billings to perform in concert Oct. 20-22. Miss Korb is the daughter of former Phillips County natives, Mr. and Mrs. Fred (JoAnne Blue) Korb. football game. Saturday was a busy day. Mike Ereaux was in for Shooting Sports event, Nancy went in for Big Flat Electric meeting and the family went to Katey's JV basketball game, Vicki and Darrell Olson went to Country Folks Holiday, Eva Oxarart went to Big Flat meeting and the Country Folks, Suzie Oxarart went to White- water for the bridal shower for Ella Anderson. Darrell Beach and Del from Great Falls visited, hunted and helped at Leo Barthelmess's over the weekend. On Sunday, Doris Holman and aunt Doris from Los Angeles were out to the Bim Oxarart's and the women made a trip to the Harb Store. Chris, Eric and Scot Barthelmess were supper guests after doing some roping, Sunday, Vicki and Darrell Olson, the Mike Ereaux family and the Jim Orahood family were in Malta for the high school rodeo. Later they met up with Ryan Lefdahl and Heather Losleben for supper at Roger's. Also traveling to Malta for the Octoberfest was the Del Stiles family. The White- water French Club sold pizzas in front of Ben Franklin during Tues- day night's activities to raise money for their trip to Paris this summer. Congratulations goes out to Sue Higgins from Whitewater who was the winner on the 13 and up cat- egory in the pumpkin contest. Wednesday night Omar and Crystal Lett and girls came in for supper and Weston Young's bi,rthday part at Larry and Sandy Lett s. 1g Rana and Clay Jesson attended theTriday and Monday night foot- ball games in Malta. ..... Saturday the Jamboree girls won another game. This one was thelr first win at home in Whitewa- t&#Sandy Lett came up Saturday morning to watch her granddaugh- tehantel Lett, play Jamboree bas- ketball. Rana and Clay Jesson also attended the Jamboree games, then had lunch and spent the afternoon with Crystal Lett before attending Ella Anderson's wedding shower at the Whitewater Lutheran Church. Omar Lett and girls went to Grandpa Tom Anderson's after Jamboree on Saturday to help Daren, Danette, Jared, Tom and Loretta Anderson wean calves and Ed and Terry Bibeau came up on Monday night to deliver RPS and stayed for supper at Omar and Crystal Lett's. Ella Anderson had .her wed- ding shower at the Whitewater Luth- eran Church on Saturday afternoon. Ella had a great turn out and fun was had by all. Del Stiles and family atteiaded Marianne Askvold's 90th birthday party ori Saturday. Early Sunday morning, Del, Shade and Jaren Stiles went to the breaks elk hunting with Bob Gait, Craig Stiles and boys. KayDel Stiles went with her sister, Rhonda Waters, to Havre on Sunday to do some much-needed shopping. Shyla Clausen and Crystal Lett went to the breaks with their hus- bands Carter and Omar to elk hunt on Sunday.
